Last Sunday after the 10am mass, SLY headed over to Wilson Beach where we had our first BBQ!  It was a blast!  There was a great turnout and we even had the honor of having Father Simon sing Puerto Rican music for us!  Thanks to everyone who made this BBQ one to remember.  And as Sandy put it: "This was the awesomest day!!!"

And for those we weren't able to make it the BBQ, the retreat has been postponed for now due to the fact that not a lot of people RSVP'd!  It's definitely something to look forward to though as a future event.  Good day!

BBQ PICNIC!!!

Hey Sly-sters! We've got the BBQ PICNIC planned and we hope to see you all there! We will be BBQ-ing and hanging out at the beach off of Lake Shore and Wilson.

We will be meeting after the 10am Mass in the Church parking lot to go together, if you aren't going to 10am Mass, let one of us know so we can give you the location/directions.

We are still in need of BBQ grills, so if you can bring one let us know!

Can't wait to see you ALL there!

7/9/06 Meeting Notes

The following is a brief synopsis of the SLY meeting:

• INTRODUCTIONS: We were graced with Father Simon's presence for this meeting, as well as our guest speaker, Deacon Chick O'Leary.
• STRUCTURE: We spoke of the structure of the group and how most of our meetings should go. We also discussed things that we wanted in the future of the group. Below is a breakdown of the meetings structure as well as some ideas that were expressed during the meeting.

               I. Opening Prayer

           IDEAS EXPRESSED: creating committees to take charge of meetings, more icebreakers, retreat, start and end each meeting with a parable or scripture to set the mood for the meeting as well as departure, Charismatic retreats, World Youth Day, Adoration, Youth Mass, and a Suggestion Box.

• DA VINCI CODE BOOK DISCUSSION: Chick engaged everyone with his great knowledge of the subject, taking in consideration questions of the group and providing us with a greater knowledge of the subject.

            Some topics discussed: Fiction vs. Non Fiction, Mary Magdalene, The Holy Grail,The "Other" Gospels, The Knights of Templar, The Priory of Scion and Opus Dei.

• PLANNING:

            PICNIC: We have discussed our PICNIC, and although the location has not been set (please look for future emails and notices that will tell where the location of the picnic will be) we have decided that it will be next Sunday, July 23rd. We will all be going to the 10AM Mass and meeting after Mass to go together to the location. If you do not go to 10AM Mass, please meet us at Church around 11AM. SLY will be paying for all the burger patties and hotdogs, but everything else will be a potluck. Please refer to your emails with letting us know what to bring.

            CAMPING TRIP/RETREAT: We also discussed our Camping Trip/Retreat which will be on August 4th-5th. Please let us know know if you will be joining us, and if your parents would like to join as a chaperone.

We are meeting this Sunday, June 25th at 1pm (after the 12 o'clock Mass) in the school.

Last Saturday, June 10th, SLY hosted their 1st Annual Variety Show in Trainor Hall and it was a huge suggest!  According to Pablo, we are the "talk of the town!"  The variety show consisted of several amazing acts including various numbers by SLY members (singing, acting, dancing) and special guest performances by Non-Stop Productions and Father Luczak!
